Sinclair rolls out ATSC 3.0 channels with Qligents Vision 3

Sinclair continues its successful rollout of ATSC 3.0 markets, expanding its deployment with confidence thanks to Vision 3 with ATSC 3.0 support.

“Qligent’s approach ensures that we can build on our existing tools without requiring a wholesale program change to execute,” said Mike Kralec, Sinclair Broadcast Group SVP and chief technology officer. “We have an ATSC 3.0 monitoring system that looks very similar to our ATSC 1.0 system, which minimizes disruption. It’s a very efficient way to achieve greater visibility into our ATSC 3.0 system while also minimizing new capital expenditures.”

The ability to directly compare ATSC 1.0 and ATSC 3.0 signals side by side and to leverage the same monitoring and alert capabilities across the parallel deployment means that Sinclair is able to operate their monitoring system with confidence. The ability to compare and contrast channels or monitor unique channels in the market is key to the success of the Sinclair rollout. Newly introduced in Vision 3 is the capability to remotely monitor ATSC 1.0 and ATSC 3.0 streams through a series of micro-appliances deployed both in-network and in the field. The ability to quickly deploy the remote capabilities means that content can be monitored both centrally or distributed throughout the network whether it is traditional QoS/QoE/Compliance monitoring or it is being used to spot check reception in the market served or a the partners facility greatly enhances the ability to monitor signals wherever they may be, ensuring that the right content is reaching partners or that the system as a operating at the target requirements.
